How the PSL Scale test works
PSL Scale detects a set of facial landmarks, converts selected distances into normalized ratios, evaluates the capture quality, and applies a versioned heuristic. The same landmarks and scoring version produce the same result; no random number or language model chooses the score.
Measurement before interpretation
Eye spacing, apparent face height-to-width, jaw-to-face width, and paired landmark displacement are measured as image geometry. These values are then compared with broad target ranges to create an result displayed on a 0–10 reference scale. The current formula produces values from 3.2 to 9.0. Those ranges are a product heuristic, not a population-validated beauty law.
Why confidence matters
A two-dimensional portrait changes with head turn, expression, focal length, crop, blur, and light. The quality score estimates whether this particular image can support the measurements. Very low-confidence photos are rejected instead of receiving a precise-looking score.
What the score cannot tell you
It cannot measure character, health, identity, ethnicity, age, universal attractiveness, or personal worth. It is an entertainment and styling aid for adults, not medical or cosmetic-procedure advice.
